Editorial

Dear readers,

It has been a very fatiguing month. We had to prepare everything for and exhibit at IFSEC 2009. We launched two new smarti® units the Electra and the Felix. We redesigned all the catalogues and product leaflets which you can now download from our page, you also have direct links in the left menu of this newsletter. We prepared a special printed and electronic edition of the newsletter called the smarti® Chronicles. If you have not received your edition yet please download it, you will find the link on the menu on the left. We are also redesigning our web page, the work is almost finished and we hope you like the new content and look. But all this this work is already paying dividends. For one we had a lot of visitors at our stand at IFSEC and let us not forget that one of the newly launched units won the title Access Control Product of the Year at the IFSEC Security Industry Awards.

We hope that you will enjoy reading this month's newsletter.

Best regards,

Your smarti® team

smarti® ELECTRA wins Access Control Product of The Year!

On Monday night the 11th of May, the IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2009 were handed out to the deserving winners at a black-tie gala dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The product of the Year in the Access Control category is smarti® ELECTRA.

Organized in association with the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), the awards acknowledge the people, products and technological advancements that have played a big part in the security industry over the past year. Widely regarded as the industry's premier event, the IFSEC Security Industry Awards is both a celebration and an acknowledgement of excellence of the products and technological innovations influencing and shaping the industry and security best practice. Judging was carried out by three panels of key representatives from the security industry. The Product & Project/Installation Award Panel was composed of 9 top security professionals.

ELECTRA, the new smarti® unit, combines multimodal biometric access control based on facial and voice recognition with RFID, power over Ethernet and a myriad of other features that make it an easy choice for users across a wide range of categories. An indoor unit, ELECTRA can be in wall or on wall mounted and it has an IP-65 compliant front panel. Easy user interaction is made possible by the use of a 5.7’’ color touch screen. It does not require a fan for cooling and is thus quiet to operate. It has a built-in camera, speakers, microphone, RFID reader, internal memory and storage. The TCP/IP connector supports power over Ethernet. The integrated communication ports and relay I/O controller can be used to control lights, electronic locks, alarms, sensors etc. The unit can be integrated into existing systems and networked with other ELECTRA units, other smarti® models and other electronic devices via TCP/IP into a flexible access control system.

IFSEC 2009 an overview

Despite worries about a sluggish economy, IFSEC 2009 was a successful exhibition for us. smarti® was nominated for the IFSEC Security Industry Awards the fourth time in a row. This time our newest product the smarti® ELECTRA proved to be the winner in Access Control Product of the Year category! It is an honor to win given the level of competition in what is considered to be the premier event of the security industry in Europe if not the world. And at the awards night our Project Manager even had the honor to present the Intruder Alarm Product of the Year award to the winner of the category.

Ralph C. Jensen editor-in-chief of Security Products magazine: "Earning top honors, TAB Systems Inc. won the Access Control product of the year with its smarti® ELECTRA. The Slovenian company combined multimodal biometric access control-based on facial and voice recognition with myriad of other features that makes it a good choice for a wide range of categories."

Security Systems News Europe magazine writes: "... it manages to include the wide array of top features from the smarti® family in a very affordable package, Tab Systems project manager Miha Lederer told Security Systems News Europe. In the current economy, the ability to deliver a variety of cutting-edge features at an attractive price is more important than ever, and that's what Electra does, Lederer said."

The new unit already received its first international acknowledgements. It has been nominated by BSIA (British Security Industry Association) in the Access Control Product category for the IFSEC 2009 Security Industry Awards (This was the forth nomination at IFSEC for the smarti® system in a row.).
