December is here and with December comes Christmas and then New Year. When we look back at the year 2009 it was a very successful year for us and we hope that it was successful for you also. For the December newsletter we prepared for you an overview of the highlights of the year 2009, the release of a new smarti® update and the next installment of the Benefits for developers of condominium projects article. The highlights of 2009
Looking back at the highlights of 2009 we can see it was a very successful year for smarti® and the smarti® team.
In March smarti® has been nominated for its fourth consecutive time to be one of the six best new access control products at the IFSEC Security Industry awards.
On Monday night the 11th of May, the IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2009 were handed out to the deserving winners at a black-tie gala dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The product of the Year in the Access Control category was smarti® ELECTRA.
In August smarti® was nominated for its second consecutive time to be one of the finalists in the category Security Innovation of the Year at the Security Excellence Awards 2009. In October the Hilton Park lane was host to the 11th annual Security Excellence Awards ceremony acknowledging and rewarding the very best operators, consultancies and people within the security industry. These awards are acknowledged as the Oscars of the security world.
And finally on the 30th of September 2009 at the Safety & Security Asia 2009 in Singapore the new smarti FELIX unit won the prestigious Merlion Award 2009 in the category of Others.
smarti® version 7.6.0 available now!
The new smarti® version is now available for download from our partners pages. The new features included are:
For time & attendance the system is now able to automatically punish people which arrive to work late or leave their work place early, with a deduction of a predefined number of working hours or with a deduction of the missed time multiplied by a predefined multiplier.
For access control we have developed a schedule with which you can define at which times of the day biometric recognition is demanded for gaining access and at which times of the day recognition with only PIN codes or external readers is enough to gain access.
You can limit access to settings and administration of groups and divisions of persons to administrative users; this is done in user rights.
Video messages can now also be sent to a whole group or division at the same time.
Function execution by face detection is also new; functions can be executed when smarti® detects a face.

Integrity of security systems
The use of smarti facial recognition will enhance the building security. Clear images of all visitors can be captured as well as the date and time of the visit. It reduces the risks of a security guard abusing his position by allowing unauthorized visitors to access the buildings.
Cost savings
The smarti can take the place of several other systems providing cost benefits. The units can replace the video intercom in every apartment, can control access to the lifts, can control access through the car park etc.
